Welcome to Bit Wars!

This is a small prototype of a game I made for a school project. It is inspired by tactical strategy games like advance wars, wargroove and fire emblem.

The goal is to defeat all enemies on the battlefield while keeping as many of your units alive.

There is currently only one playable level.

Controls

  • Move the cursor using wasd or the arrow keys
  • Confirm using the space, enter or z keys
  • Cancel using the backspace, escape or x keys

Selecting a unit that hasn't moved yet will select that unit and allow you to move them and perform an action.

Selecting any other tile will show you the system menu where you can skip the rest of your turn or exit to the main menu.

Actions

  • Attack - Fight with an enemy in range, enemies will fight back
  • Heal - Heal an ally in range
  • Items - Equip or use items
  • Trade - Does nothing atm :'(
  • Wait - Move without performing an action

The sprites I used are from a sprite sheet made by Kenney: https://www.kenney.nl/

I modified the spritesheet with some of my own character and item art to fit my game.

I generated the character portraits using an artificial intelligence face generator, after which I ran the images through a filter to pixelize them and reduce the amount of colors.
